INDICACIONES A LOS AUTORES

La revista Salud Mental invita a los profesionistas de la psiquiatría, de la psicología y de ciencias afines a enviar trabajos originales relacionados con la salud mental para que sean considerados para su publicación. La calidad de los trabajos será juzgada por miembros del Comité Editorial de la Revista. Los que se acepten, lo serán en el entendimiento de que no han sido publicados ni lo serán en otra revista, pasarán a ser propiedad de Salud Mental y no podrán traducirse ni reproducirse sin el consentimiento escrito del Editor.

Trabajos

Los artículos deben escribirse en buen español o en inglés. Se enviarán al editor de la revista tres copias completas incluyendo cuadros y figuras. El texto deberá presentarse escrito en computadora en fuente courier new y en tipo número 12 a doble espacio, en papel bond tamaño carta, con márgenes de 2.5 cms. como mínimo, acompañadas del diskette. Las páginas se numerarán consecutivamente empezando por la del título, con el número escrito en la esquina superior derecha.

La primera página debe contener: el título del trabajo, en español y en inglés, el (los) nombre (s) del (de los) autor (es), y la dirección de la (s) institución (es) a la que pertenece. Independientemente de la extensión del artículo, éste deberá tener un resumen en español de tres cuartillas y otro en inglés, de seis cuartillas, con las mismas características que el artículo, en el que refleje claramente su contenido. El trabajo debe incluir de 3 a 5 palabras claves, tanto en español como en inglés. Se enviará en un sobre de papel grueso, acompañado de una carta del autor responsable, a quien se dirigirá la correspondencia. En ésta debe mencionarse que el texto ha sido aprobado por todos los demás autores, quienes deberán firmarla, y en caso necesario se enviarán copias de los permisos correspondientes para reproducir material o usar fotografías de pacientes.

Cada cuadro o figura se enviará en hojas separadas y numeradas, dentro del texto, con cifras arábigas. Los títulos de los cuadros y los pies de figura deben ser claros y breves y llevar siempre el número correspondiente que los identifique.

Todas las figuras se enviarán bien protegidas en otro sobre para evitar que se maltraten; deben ser fotografías bien contrastadas, impresas en papel brillante y no mayores de 20.3 x 25.4 cms. En el reverso se escribirá con lápiz el título del trabajo, el número de la figura y una flecha que señale la parte superior de la misma.

Contenido y estructura

En la Sección de Trabajos originales y en la de Actualización por Temas se aceptarán estudios cuyos resultados estén debidamente documentados y, cuando lo requieran, apoyados por un análisis estadístico adecuado. También podrán considerarse para la sección de Actualización, artículos de revisión bibliográfica en el área de la salud mental.

Los trabajos originales no deberán exceder de 26 cuartillas y se organizarán de la siguiente manera: 1) Cinco palabras clave; 2) dos resúmenes, uno en inglés no menor de seis cuartillas, y otro en español de tres cuartillas; 3) introducción, en la que se mencionen los antecedentes en los que se basa la investigación y los objetivos de la misma; 4) material y métodos, con información detallada del trabajo experimental, y la tecnología utilizada; 5) resultados, descritos de manera precisa y concisa y, de ser posible en términos cuantitativos; 6) discusión, sobre todo respecto a la importancia de los resultados o sus limitaciones interpretativas; 7) agradecimientos a las personas que hayan colaborado en el estudio, o bien, en relación con subvenciones otorgadas; 8) referencias.

Para la sección de Actualización por Temas se aceptarán artículos relacionados con la salud mental y la psiquiatría, revisiones, ensayos, observaciones clínicas, etc. La extensión de estos trabajos no deberá exceder de 26 cuartillas.

El autor debe cerciorarse de que las referencias mencionadas en el texto concuerden con las que aparecen al final del artículo.

Las referencias se ordenarán alfabéticamente de acuerdo con el apellido del primer autor y, además, deberán estar numeradas. Los nombres de las revistas citadas se abreviarán según la lista de abreviaturas publicadas en el Index Medicus .

A continuación se dan algunos ejemplos del orden y de la puntuación que deben seguir las referencias, dependiendo de la fuente de información. El autor deberá apegarse estrictamente a este formato.

Para citar las referencias en el texto, el autor podrá elegir una de las dos maneras siguientes:

Citar las referencias mediante su número correspondiente, que se colocará entre paréntesis:

Ejemplo:

...la estimulación del hipocampo (2,3,34).

O de ser necesario, mencionar el nombre de los autores, los cuales deberán ir seguidos por su número correspondiente:

...se utilizó el método de Wada y Sato (20) para....

Solamente se incluirán como referencias los textos publicados. Los reportes internos, los trabajos mimeografiados, los que están en proceso de dictamen, las comunicaciones personales, las comunicaciones en congresos que no publicaron memorias, irán a pié de página.

Instructions to authors

The journal Salud Mental invites professionals in psychiatry and psychology, as well as those in similar sciences to contribute with original papers related to Mental Health to be considered for publication. The quality of the papers will be determined by the board of the journal editorial committee. The ones accepted should not have been published before in any other journal and should not be published in the future. They will become property of Salud Mental and can not be translated or reprinted without the written permission of the Editor of this journal.

Papers

The articles should be written in Spanish or English in a concise and clear way. Three complete copies of the paper, including tables and figures, should be sent to the Editor together with its diskette. The text should be written in a computer, in a courier new, type 12, with minimum margins of 2.5 cms. Pages must be consecutively numbered, starting by the title page.

First page: Title of the paper in Spanish and English, name or names of the authors, and name and address of the institution where they work. The article must include a three page summary in Spanish and a six page summary in English, in which the contents of the article are clearly reflected. The paper must include from three to five key words in Spanish and in English. It must be sent in a thick paper envelope enclosing a letter from the principal author, with his address clearly indicated. This letter must state that the contents of the article have been approved by all the authors, and they must sign accordingly. When necessary, copies of the authorizations for the reproduction of material and the use of patient's photographs should be included.

Each table or figure will be sent in separate sheets of paper, and the article will indicate in arabic numbers where they should be placed. The titles of the tables and figures and the foot notes should be brief, clear, and identified with a number.

The figures must be sent well protected in another envelope; they must be well printed photograpsh in brilliant paper no larger than 20.3 × 25.4 cms. At the back of the photos, the name of the article and the number of the figure should be stated; an arrow pointing to the top of the figure should be drawn.

Contents and structure

In the section of Original Articles and in that of Topics of Interest, studies whose results are duly documented will be accepted; when needed, an adequate statistical analysis should be included. Bibliographical revisions in the area of mental health will also be considered for publication in the Topics of Interest section.

Original papers should not exceed 26 pages and should be organized as follows: 1) Five key words; 2) two summaries one in Spanish and another in English– two pages each; 3) introduction, mentioning the background in which the investigation is based and its objectives; 4) materials and methods, with detailed information on the experimental work and the technology used; 5) results clearly and concisely described, in quantitative terms when possible; 6) discussion, specially on the importance of the results or their interpretative limitations; 7) acknowledgements to those collaborating in the study and to those sponsoring the investigation; 8) bibliography.

Articles, revisions, essays, clinical observations, etc., related to mental health will be accepted for publication in other sections of the journal. These contributions should not be over 26 pages long.

The author must be sure that the references mentioned in the text, coincide with those mentioned at the end of the article.

The bibliography should be alphabetically ordered according to the surname of the first author, and it should be numbered. The names of the different journals will be abreviated according the the abreviation list published in the Index Medicus.

Some examples are given of the order and the punctuation which the references must follow, depending on the source of information. The author must strictly follow this format.

When citing references in the text, the author may choose one of the two following ways: Cite the references by their corresponding number, which will be written between parenthesis:

Example:

... hippocampal stimulation (2,3,34).

Or if necessary, mention the names of the authors followed by their corresponding number:

...Wada's and Sato's (20) method was used for...

Only already published texts may be cited as references. Internal reports, photostatic copies, papers under dictamination, personal communications and lectures not published in memorials should appear at the bottom of the page.
