NORMAS PARA LOS AUTORES

 

Investigaciones Geográficas es una revista científica mexicana, de excelencia en el campo de la Geografía. Los autores que deseen someter a dictamen sus trabajos deberán considerar las normas publicadas y también disponibles en el portal del Instituto, de acuerdo con los siguientes criterios:

 

  1. Los escritos, en original y tres copias, deben hacerse llegar al Editor Técnico del Boletín Investigaciones Geográficas, acompañados de una carta donde el autor(res) deberá(n) confirmar que se trata de un trabajo original que no ha sido publicado ni sometido a otra revista, incluso en Internet, a la siguiente dirección:

  1. La extensión máxima de los trabajos es de 30 cuartillas incluyendo espacios, texto, resumen, notas, referencias, mapas, figuras, gráficas, tablas y cuadros, a doble espacio y con tamaño de letra 12.

 

  1. En la primera hoja, no incluida en las 30 cuartillas antedichas, aparecerá el título del trabajo, el nombre de autor(es), adscripción, dirección, teléfonos completos de contacto y correo electrónico. No debe añadirse ningún otro texto en esta hoja.

 

  1. En la primera hoja de las 30 que constituyen el texto, debe aparecer, otra vez, el título del trabajo, sin el nombre de los autores. Inmediatamente abajo un resumen en español y otro en cualquiera de los idiomas siguientes: inglés, francés o portugués, que no superen las 200 palabras. Asimismo, dos espacios abajo de cada resumen se incluirán palabras clave que revelen la naturaleza del trabajo y cuyo número no supere seis.

 

  1. A lo largo del escrito deben quedar claramente indicados los acápites referidos a introducción, las distintas secciones que constituyen el estudio, la secuencia de las figuras indicadas a lo largo del texto y las conclusiones. En la introducción aparecerá el objetivo del trabajo, la idea central de la investigación y la importancia del tema desarrollado. Se sugiere que la extensión de esta primera parte del texto no rebase las tres hojas.

 

  1. En caso de haber agradecimientos, éstos no ocuparán más de un solo párrafo, después de las conclusiones y antes de las notas.

 

  1. Las notas que acompañen al cuerpo principal del escrito se numerarán en forma progresiva y aparecerán al final del texto, justo antes de las referencias bibliográficas. Se sugiere elaborar un número mínimo de notas y de corta extensión.

 

  1. Los mapas, fotografías y gráficas se denominan “Figuras”. Se recomienda a los autores que envíen las figuras en formato digital y en archivos aparte del manuscrito. Si no se cuenta con los archivos digitales, los originales en “cámara-ready” y tamaño carta deberán ser proporcionados. Todas las figuras deben estar numeradas. Las tablas y cuadros se numeran como “Tablas”. Las leyendas, pies de figura o encabezados, deben ser ordenados en archivos aparte. Las fotografías y archivos raster, deben tener una resolución de cuando menos 300 dpi en formato TIFF. Cualquier otra ilustración deberá proporcionarse en archivos de Corel Draw, Auto-Cad, Canvas, Adobe Illustrator o Freehand. Tambíén se aceptan archivos en formato Postscript Encapsulado (EPS) y Windows Meta File (WMF). Las Ilustraciones, mapas y tablas que no reúnan dichos lineamientos no serán aceptados. Las fotografías pueden ser en blanco y negro. Se pueden enviar figuras a color y, según la cotización de estas últimas el costo debe ser asumido por el(los) autor(es).
  2. Las referencias bibliográficas deben aparecer al final del escrito, como sigue:

Dentro del cuerpo del trabajo se preferirá el sistema de referencia usado comúnmente por diversas publicaciones internacionales: Ejemplo (Coll, 2003:75).

 

  1. Las Notas y Noticias son aquellas dedicadas a la divulgación de sucesos, eventos académicos relevantes tanto de la Geografía regional, nacional e internacional, así como de perspectivas de interés geográfico, podrán tener una extensión de hasta tres páginas.

 

  1. Las Reseñas serán críticas y/o informativas de libros recientes. Las primeras serán preferidas en la política editorial del Boletín sobre los libros geográficos o de carácter interdisciplinario, de temas novedosos, de interés social y económico; del ambiente y de la tecnología geográfica, así como de la reflexión teórica, histórica y cultural del territorio. La extensión no rebasará de cuatro páginas.

 

  1. Los editores del Boletín se reservan el derecho de devolver los artículos que no cumplan con Normas para los autores.

 

NORMS TO AUTHORS

 

Investigaciones Geográficas is a peer-reviewed journal. For a paper to be considered for publication, authors should observe the following norms:

 

  1. One original and three photocopies of the manuscript must be sent with a letter in which the author(s) state that the paper is a contribution not previously published or submitted to any other journal, including internet, to the following address:

  1. We can only consider manuscripts with an extension of up to 30 letter-size pages, double-spaced and using font size 12, including text, figures and references.

 

  1. In addition to the 30 pages mentioned above, authors should send one separate page including the title of the paper, followed by the author(s)’s name(s) in full, base institutions, contact address and telephone number. No other information should appear on this page.

 

  1. The first page of the submitted manuscript should include the following information: title of the paper on top, followed by two abstracts: one in Spanish and another in either English, French or Portuguese, not to exceed 200 words. In each case, four to six key words should be provided two space lines below the abstract, defining the nature of the paper. Please note: names of authors should not appear on this page.

 

  1. The different sections of the text, including introduction and conclusions, must be clearly indicated. In the introductory part of the paper, the objective of the work, the key issue that the investigation addresses and the importance of the study should be stated. This section should be kept to a maximum of three pages.

 

  1. Acknowledgements, if any, should be included at the end of the paper, after the conclusions and before any notes.

 

  1. Notes should be kept short and to a minimum, numbered progressively and included before the references.

 

  1. Maps, photographs and graphs are named “Figures”. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit figures in digital format separately of the manuscript. If digital files are not included, camera-ready originals should be provided, preferably at full page size. Please number all figures. Tables and charts should be numbered as “Tables”. Captions are to be provided separately. For photographs and other raster files, TIFF images should be used with resolution of at least 300 dpi. Any other illustrations should be submitted as Corel Draw, Auto-Cad, Canvas, Adobe Illustrator or Freehand files. Encapsulated Postscript files (EPS) and Windows Meta File (WMF) are also accepted. Illustrations, maps and tables which do not meet these guidelines will not be accepted. Black-and-white photographs are acceptable. Color figures may be included, at the author’s expensive.

 

  1. References must appear at the end of the paper, as follows:

Throughout the text, authors should adhere to the reference system commonly used in many countries. For instance: (Coll, 2003:75).

 

  1. The “Notes and Newsletter” are devoted to communicating facts, relevant academic events in the field of Geography at regional, national and/or international levels, as well as insights of interest for geographers. These contributions should not exceed three pages.

 

  1. The “Book reviews” include critical reviews and/or informative descriptions of recently published books. In accordance with the Bulletin’s editorial policy, preference will be given to books addressing geographical or interdisciplinary topics that are either novel or of social and economic interest; focused on the environment and geographic technology as well as on the territory’s theoretical, historical and cultural thinking. These contributions should not exceed four pages.

 

  1. The Bulletin’s editors are entitled to reject any papers that fail to meet the provisions mentioned above.
