INFORMACIÓN PARA LOS AUTORES

Manuscritos. Debe enviarse una copia en archivo electrónico, elaborada en Microsoft Word o en algún otro programa compatible, a la siguiente dirección: editorial@atmosfera.unam.mx. El formato debe ser a doble espacio, con márgenes amplios y todas las páginas numeradas progresivamente. Las notas a pie de página deben evitarse en lo posible. En el caso de las fórmulas matemáticas, cuando pueda haber duda acerca de los símbolos, los autores deberán incluir una lista identificándolos tipográficamente. Las ecuaciones estarán numeradas entre paréntesis.

Título, Nombre, Dirección. Escriba el título completo. Deben figurar los nombres y filiación de cada autor, es decir, identificación del centro de trabajo y dirección postal y electrónica del autor responsable.

Resumen. Todos los artículos deben tener dos resúmenes, uno en español y otro en inglés. No se requiere resumen para las contribuciones cortas.

Texto. El texto debe dividirse en secciones, cada una con un encabezado.

Reconocimientos. Breves.

Apéndices. Los análisis matemáticos largos, cuyos detalles estén subordinados al tema principal del artículo, deben aparecer en un apéndice titulado.

Unidades, abreviaturas y símbolos. Se usará el Sistema Internacional de Unidades (m, kg, s, K), empleando sólo términos aceptados generalmente. Es necesario explicar las abreviaturas desconocidas cuando se usen por primera vez. Se debe poner especial cuidado al escribir los símbolos para que sean identificados claramente. El signo menos debe ser –.

Referencias bibliográficas. La bibliografía deberá incluir únicamente los trabajos citados en el texto y será ordenada alfabéticamente al final de trabajo. Se pide a los autores ajustarse al sistema de citas especificado. Ejemplos:

Las citas en el texto, cuando son de uno o dos autores, deberán indicarse con el apellido y el año de publicación, todo entre paréntesis, si son más se pondrá el apellido del primer autor seguido por et al. En caso de que el nombre del autor forme parte de la redacción del escrito, únicamente se pondrá paréntesis al año de publicación.

Ejemplo:

...a weekly cycle has been observed in surface temperature (Gordon, 1994).

...Gordon (1994) has observed a weekly cycle in surface temperature.

Ilustraciones y tablas. Para las ilustraciones se aceptan archivos electrónicos (de preferencia en formato tiff o eps a una resolución mínima de 300 dpi), fotografías de buena calidad y contraste, y dibujos impresos sobre papel o plástico. En los mapas, el meridiano al centro del dibujo debe estar paralelo a los lados. Todas las figuras deben incluir un pie y ser numeradas y citadas específicamente en el texto. Numere las tablas con números romanos e incluya un título corto.

Pruebas. Los autores recibirán para su corrección, las pruebas ajustadas de sus trabajos. Las correcciones que hagan serán únicamente de carácter gramatical y errores de imprenta.

Sobretiros. Se enviarán gratuitamente 10 sobretiros, cobrándose los excedentes a un precio nominal.

INFORMATION FOR CONTRIBUTORS

Manuscripts. Please submitt an electronic copy of final version of manuscript, preferably prepared with MS Word or other compatible software, to the following address: editorial@atmosfera.unam.mx. It should be formatted with wide margins, double-spacing and all pages numbered. Footnotes to the text should be avoided. When symbols in mathematical work could be in doubt, the authors should submitt a list identifying typographically the symbols used. Equations will be numbered in parentheses to the right.

Title, Name, Address. Provide the title in full, author’s name, affiliation, e-mail and present postal address.

Abstract. All articles shall include an abstract, both in Spanish and in English. Abstracts are not required for short contributions.

Text. The text should be divided into sections, each with a separate heading.

Acknowledgements. Brief.

Appendix. Lengthy mathematical analyses whose details are subordinate to the main theme of the paper should normally appear in an appendix. Each appendix should have a title.

Units, abbreviations and symbols. The International System of Units (m, kg, s, K) should be used. Only standardized terms that have been generally accepted should be used. Unfamiliar abbreviations must be defined when first used. Particular care should be taken to ensure that all symbols are clearly identified. The minus sign should be –.

References. Articles should be fully documented with references in the text and a reference listing ordered alphabetically by author’s names at the end of the paper. Authors are encouraged to adjust to citation system. Examples:

References cited in the text should indicate, within parenthesis, the last name of each author and the year of publication. If there is more than two authors, the last name of the first author should be followed by et al. When such name form part of the content of the article, and do not appear solely as a reference, the year of publication is parenthesized. For example:

...a weekly cycle has been observed in surface temperature (Gordon, 1994).

...Gordon (1994) has observed a weekly cycle in surface temperature.

Illustrations and tables. Electronic files (preferably in tif or eps format, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi), photographs of good quality and contrast, and drawings printed on paper are accepted. Maps should preferably be oriented so that the meridian through the center of the drawing is parallel to the sides. Figure legends should be self-explanatory and printed on a separate sheet of paper. All figures should be numbered and specifically mentioned in the text by number. Please number all tables with Roman numerals and include a short title.

Proofs. Copies of the proofs will be sent to the author. Revised proofs should be returned to the publisher without delay. The only changes that could be accepted in proofs are on grammar or related to printing errors.

Offprints. Authors of articles will receive 10 offprints free of charge, additional ones must be paid for by the author. Request forms for offprints will be enclosed with the proofs.
