La revista CIENCiA UANL tiene
como propósito difundir la producción científica y tecnológica de la
Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León en los ámbitos académico, científico,
tecnológico y empresarial.
CIENCiA UANL está dirigida a
científicos, académicos, tecnólogos y profesionales en general interesados en
aumentar sus conocimientos y fortalecer su perfil cultural.
En sus páginas se presentan
avances de investigación científica, desarrollo tecnológico y artículos de
divulgación en cualesquiera de las siguientes áreas: Ciencias Exactas, Ciencias
de la Tierra, Ciencias Biológicas, Biomédicas y Químicas, Ciencias Naturales,
Ciencias Sociales e Ingenierías. En el caso de las áreas de Arquitectura,
Psicología y similares, sólo se aceptarán trabajos con resultados
experimentales. Se invita a todos los profesores e investigadores a enviar sus
artículos de carácter científico o tecnológico. Las colaboraciones deberán
estar escritas en un lenguaje claro, didáctico y accesible a lectores con
formación profesional.
Las colaboraciones serán
evaluadas por especialistas por área científica. Los criterios aplicables a la
selección de textos serán: el rigor científico, la calidad y precisión de la
información, el interés general del tema expuesto y la claridad del lenguaje.
Se publicarán artículos en
inglés sólo si todos los autores tienen como primera lengua un idioma diferente
al español.
No se aceptarán trabajos
que no cumplan con los criterios y lineamientos indicados.
Sólo se aceptan artículos
originales, entendiendo por ello que el contenido sea producto del trabajo
directo y que una versión similar no se ha publicado o enviado a otras
revistas.
En el caso de los trabajos
de divulgación, además de los lineamientos, deberá considerarse lo siguiente:
• El autor debe demostrar
haber trabajado y publicado en el tema del artículo.
• El artículo debe ofrecer
una panorámica clara del campo temático.
• El artículo debe ser
ordenado. Separar las dimensiones del tema y evitar romper la línea de tiempo.
• Debe considerarse la
experiencia nacional y local, si la hubiera.
• Debe estar adecuadamente
(cantidad y calidad) ilustrado: fotos, diagramas, etc.
No se aceptan reportes de
mediciones. Los artículos deben contener la presentación de resultados de
medición y su comparación, también deben presentar un análisis detallado de los
mismos, un desarrollo metodológico original, una manipulación nueva de la
materia o ser de gran impacto y novedad social. Sólo se aceptan modelos
matemáticos si son validados experimentalmente por el autor.
No se aceptarán trabajos
basados en encuestas de opinión o entrevistas, a menos que aunadas a ellas se
realicen mediciones y se efectúe un análisis de correlación para su validación.
Para su consideración
editorial, el autor deberá entregar o enviar un original y dos copias del
artículo impresos; así como un disquete de 3 1/2" con el archivo del mismo
en formato .doc de Word, originales de material gráfico, fichas biográficas de
cada autor de máximo 100 palabras y carta firmada por los autores que
certifique la originalidad del artículo y cedan derechos de autor a favor de la

Los originales deberán
tener una extensión máxima de cinco páginas (incluyendo gráficas y fotos) de
acuerdo al formato que a continuación se especifica:
• Formato. Tamaño carta; el
margen superior deberá ser de 2.5 cm. y el resto de 2 cm.
• Título. Máximo 2
renglones, tipografiado en altas y bajas, tipo Times New Roman a 24 puntos, con
interlínea normal, en negritas.
• Nombre del autor o
autores. En mayúsculas con alineación al margen derecho, misma fuente
tipográfica en 12 puntos, asterisco sobrescrito al final.
• Adscripción. Colocarla en
pie de página de la 2a. columna antecedida por un asterisco, en tipografía
Times New Roman de 8 puntos.
• Cuerpo del texto. A dos
columnas, con tipografía Times New Roman de 10 puntos, justificado.
• Resúmenes. No mayores de
100 palabras tanto en inglés como en español. Incluir a lo sumo cinco palabras
clave tanto en inglés como en español para ser utilizadas en índices. Deben
ubicarse al terminar el cuerpo y antes de las referencias. Misma tipografía que
el cuerpo.
• Referencias. Deberán ser
numeradas y aparecerán en el orden que fueron citadas en el texto, utilizando
la misma tipografía del cuerpo. Las fichas bibliográficas deberán contener los
siguientes datos: autores o editores, título del artículo, nombre del libro o
de la revista, lugar, empresa editorial, año de la publicación, volumen y
número de páginas.
• Subtítulos. Tipografía
Times New Roman, 10 puntos, en negritas.
• Notas al pie. Times New Roman, 8 puntos.
• Material gráfico. Mínimo
3 imágenes o gráficas en blanco y negro, a una o dos columnas, máximo media
página (deben entregarse originales).
• Pie de gráficos.
Tipografía Times New Roman, itálica de 9 puntos.

INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS
CIENCiA UANL has as its primary purpose to
publish scientific and technological articles for the academic, technological
and business communities in order that scientists, engineers, technologists and
professionals in general may benefit from the knowledge and culture that its
authors contribute with their interventions for the journal.
Through these pages, advances in research from the natural sciences,
exact sciences, earth sciences, biological sciences, biomedical sciences,
chemical sciences and social sciences; technological developments and science
written for laymen will be presented in both Spanish and English languages.* In
the areas of architecture, psychology and similar areas investigations will be
accepted only if there are experimental results.
All professors and researchers are invited to send their articles that
fit into the above purpose. Contributions must be written in a clear, concise
and didactic manner for a readership with professional training.
All contributions will be evaluated by specialists in the appropriate
scientific or engineering area. Criteria employed for contributions are:
scientific rigor, quality and accuracy of information, general interest of the
topic dealt with as well as clarity of language.
Articles will be published in English only if all of the authors have as
their first language, a language other than Spanish.
Research work will not be accept that do not comply with the following
criteria and indications.
Only original articles will be accepted, understanding by this that the
contents are the product of the author(s)’ direct work and has not been
published or similar version has not been sent for publication to other
journals.
In case of scientific articles written for a wider readership, in
addition to general indications the following should be considered:
Reports dealing only with measurements will not be accepted. Articles
must contain not only the presentation of results of measurements and their
comparison but also a detailed analysis of the same. Articles must show a new
manipulation of material or have great social impact and novelty as well as
original methodological development.
Mathematic models will only be accepted if they are experimentally
validated by the author(s).
Report based on opinion surveys and interviews will not be accepted,
unless they are accompanied by measurements and that carry out correlational
analysis for validating.
The author(s) must deliver or send to the journal for editorial
consideration an original and two printed copies of the manuscript together
with a 3 1/2" diskette written in Microsoft Word, original graphic
material, a 100-word biographical sketch of each contributing author and a
letter with all author(s)’ signature(s) transferring copyright to Ciencia UANL,
certifying that the article is original. Articles must be sent or delivered to:

The original articles should be no longer than 5 pages (including
photographs, figures and tables) according to the following specifications:
• Format. Letter size, leaving 2.5 cm margin at the top and 2.0 cm on
all other sides.
• Title. Maximum 2 lines, written in upper and lower case with Times New
Roman font 24 bold without between-line spacing.
• Name(s) of author(s). Written in Times New Roman font 12 with raised
asterisk at end of line.
• Affiliation. To be put in the second column with a raised asterisk,
followed by the name of the author’s department and the name of the author’s
research center or university.
• Body of Text. Two-column format written in font 10 Times New Roman,
with right- and left-hand alignment.
• Abstract. No more than 100 words. At end of abstract but before
references, listing five keywords.
• References. List references as they appear in the body of the text,
using the same font as the text. Bibliographical citations will have the
following order: author(s) or editor(s), title of article, name book or
journal, year of publication, volume and number, and number of pages and/or
pagination.
• Subtitles. Use font 10 Times New Roman bold.
• Foot Notes. Use font 8 Times New Roman.
• Graphic Material. A minimum of 3 images or graphics in black and white
should be used, one or two columns wide, one half page maximum height.
• Graphic Foot Notes. Use font 9 Times New Roman.
